First Flights

Swiss philatelists cooperated closely with Aero clubs and domestic and international airlines to ensure that significant first flights were duly recognized by specially prepared cards and covers to be flown on board.

This card was carried aboard the first flight between Laufen and Zürich on May 4, 1924. The pilot was flying pioneer Walter Mittelholzer and the flight carried 9,758 pieces of mail.
